A microcosm of WWF-Malaysia’s efforts through the years, this coming together of individuals – primarily the youth of Malaysia, celebrates the continued preservation of the wellbeing of our environment through healthy habits and mindful actions. A celebration amplified while being surrounded by the beautiful greenery of Perdana Botanical Gardens.

The day started before the official opening with a quiet morning of pot-tree planting with participants who enjoyed a calm and gentle stroll around the park before attending the workshop where they had adopted saplings to plant.
The official event began with Luqman Hakim, President of the Kelab Belia Prihatin Malaysia, reprising the promise of their pledge to #TumbuhBersama and spoke passionately about the importance of tangible steps to nurture a deeper connection with nature. He reminded us that a healthy community comes from a healthy habitat for all living creatures, including ourselves.
Sophia Lim, Executive Director and CEO of WWF-Malaysia, began her opening remark by highlighting the beauty of the Perdana Botanical Gardens and proceeded to encourage those who participated in the tree-planting workshop, reminding them that their actions have helped nurture the future by contributing to the ecosystem. With Malaysian Environment Week approaching, she emphasised that safeguarding Malaysia’s ecology requires the creativity and strength of the youth. While the current conservationists are gradually passing the torch, they put their trust in the coming generation’s fresh ideas and passion. Lim then called for unity in conservation movements, urging everyone to take part in protection of biodiversity, and concluded with a challenge to continue the work with pride and purpose.
WWF-Malaysia thanks the Scouts Association of Malaysia for their meaningful support of the event. Led by Ts Dr Manivannan Rethinam, National Commissioner (Global Initiatives & Strategic Partnerships), about 100 Scouts exemplified youth support of nature conservation with their enthusiastic participation in activities such as pot tree planting, the Dance for Nature, and Education for Sustainable Development Treasure Hunt.

The event took an energetic turn when Kowachee, a vibrant and determined young entertainer, took to the stage with an inspiring performance titled "Dance For Nature." Her lively and captivating routine brought the crowd to their feet and united them in a shared moment of enthusiasm. The dance set a spirited tone for the remainder of the day’s proceedings. With such a fantastic roster of activities, one in particular stood out and engaged with the youth: The Nature Heroes Games. These were a series of educational activities under an expansive Treasure Hunt designed to be exciting and interactive to engage the participants' sense of collaborative competition. They explored various themes in nine ‘stations’ which offered unique challenges that highlighted different aspects of the conservation efforts here in Malaysia. An experience that only those present could truly grasp and enjoy, and we hope to see again soon.

Three teams came out on top and proudly made their way to the winners’ stage to receive their prizes and stand as a testament to the youth taking concrete actions toward a sustainable future. The festival continued until later in the evening with musical performances by the National Department of Culture as well as Sape’ artiste Anderson Kalang, a live podcast session by Jaguh Bumi, and a delightful rendition of Tumbuh Bersama which closed the event. It was a day of fun, education, and collaboration, as the festivities highlighted the crucial role youth play in maintaining a thriving Malaysian biodiversity.
