On Mother’s Day, a tragic scene unfolded on the Gerik-Jeli Highway — a mother elephant grieving over her calf, killed in a road accident.

This heart breaking moment is a reminder: our roads cut through wildlife habitats like Royal Belum and Temengor, home to elephants, Malayan tigers, and more. According to the National Elephant Conservation Action Plan (NECAP), eight elephants died from elephant-vehicle collisions from 2015 to 2021.

With only an estimated 1,200 to 1,700 wild elephants left in Peninsular Malaysia (Source: NECAP, IUCN), we need to take urgent action. Please donate to support:

– Habitat enrichment

– Initiatives to educate people to drive safer

Please donate today so WWF-Malaysia can work together with partners and stakeholders to make the Gerik-Jeli Highway safe for both people and wildlife.

Together, let’s #ShareTheSpace and transform conflict to coexistence. Thank you for your meaningful support.
