15 April 2026, Gerik, Perak — WWF-Malaysia, in partnership with Procter & Gamble (P&G), today launched a key milestone in advancing landscape-level conservation through a multi-year initiative, aimed at safeguarding Malaysia’s critical forest ecosystems, promoting responsible palm oil practices, and supporting the recovery of the Malayan tiger.

A key highlight of the launch is the handover of a Floating Outpost to the Perak State Parks Corporation (PSPC). Located within the Belum–Temengor landscape, the outpost will enhance ranger mobility and strengthen on-ground enforcement efforts, particularly in deterring poaching and safeguarding critical habitats.

The launch event, held at Belum Rainforest Resort, brought together government representatives, corporate partners, conservation practitioners, and community stakeholders, reflecting a collective commitment to long-term landscape.

Since its inception, the project has delivered tangible outcomes on the ground, including sustained anti-poaching efforts with zero active snares recorded in key areas, the employment of Indigenous community members as rangers to support enforcement, and the detection of critically endangered species such as the Malayan tiger through ongoing wildlife monitoring. This initiative supports these anti-poaching efforts and the employment of Orang Asli rangers, alongside other contributing partners, as part of a broader collective conservation effort.

This initiative adopts a holistic Protect-Produce-Restore initiative that brings together conservation, communities, and sustainable livelihoods across the Belum–Temengor landscape. Efforts across the landscape continue to promote responsible palm oil practices, support sustainable rubber production, and strengthen integrated land-use planning. On the ground, solutions such as bioacoustics monitoring and a floating outpost in Royal Belum are enhancing protection and enforcement.

Spanning five years, the Nature Pillar Project reflects a shared commitment to safeguarding forests and production landscapes, supporting communities, and contributing to the recovery of the Malayan tiger. Implemented across four states and five districts, the initiative covers 120,000 hectares of interconnected landscapes. This project, led by WWF-Malaysia, also contributes to P&G’s ambition to protect, restore, or improve land through collaborative conservation efforts.

“This partnership with P&G represents a meaningful step towards advancing landscape level conservation in Malaysia,” said Sophia Lim, CEO of WWF-Malaysia. “Through the Living Landscapes initiative, we are strengthening efforts to protect critical habitats, restore ecological connectivity, and support sustainable practices across timber, palm oil and rubber value chains. We value P&G’s commitment to long term investment and collaboration, which will be instrumental in delivering impact at scale across these forest landscapes.”

“At Procter & Gamble, we know that progress toward many of our environmental sustainability goals requires partnerships. WWF is one of our important partners in this mission. WWF-Malaysia and P&G are partnering for landscape conservation in peninsular Malaysia”said Ashley Kuhn, Senior Director, Nature & Biodiversity, P&G.

"The establishment of this strategic floating ranger outpost is important to enhance our enforcement presence on the ground, improve response time, and strengthen our capacity to safeguard the park against threats such as poaching and illegal encroachment," said Mr. Lau Ching Fong, Director of the Perak State Parks Corporation. "We appreciate the collaboration with WWF-Malaysia and P&G to safeguard this globally significant ecosystem for future generations."

Through this partnership, WWF-Malaysia and P&G are supporting solutions that go beyond short-term interventions, contributing to ecosystem protection, forest restoration, and community empowerment at scale. The partnership underscores the importance of aligning conservation priorities with responsible business practices in an increasingly complex environmental landscape, recognising that healthy forests are essential not only for nature, but also for economic stability and supply chain resilience.
