Responsible Forestry… Together

Responsible forestry begins with the need to sustain supplies of raw materials at reasonable costs, but it must also satisfy shareholders’ responsible ethics and enhance corporate reputation.  Operating on the basis that a forest product industry seeking to support responsible forestry must incorporate environmental and social, as well as business objectives, WWF-Malaysia established a Malaysian Producer’s Group, the Global Forest and Trade Network-Malaysia.

Global Forest and Trade Network-Malaysia was established as part of WWF's Global Forest & Trade Network (GFTN) initiative. The GFTN aims to eliminate illegal logging and improve the management of valuable and threatened forests.

GFTN-Malaysia promotes mutually beneficial partnerships between businesses, forest managers and non-governmental organisations to define, monitor and apply a stepwise approach towards achieving certification to both responsible forest management and producing forest goods in Malaysia.

The GFTN-Malaysia is successful at creating business-to-business links because it is the Malaysian chapter of the WWF’s Global Forest and Trade Network (GFTN) and is affiliated with other national and regional Forest and Trade Networks (FTNs) across the globe.  GFTN-Malaysia can access over 30 producer and consumer nations in Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia – a global business outreach.

If you are a forest manager, processors, traders, or individual who like to find out more with the programme, please download the GFTN-Malaysia brochures.
