EARTH HOUR 2022 THANK YOU REPORT
WWF’s landmark movement, Earth Hour, united millions of people around the world to show their support of nature conservation on Saturday, 26 March 2022 at 8.30pm by taking the symbolic action of switching off lights for one hour.
Earth Hour was founded to unite the world in support of people and the planet. Earth Hour is especially meaningful this year as it marks WWF-Malaysia’s 50 Years of nature conservation efforts in collaboration with government agencies, businesses, communities and individuals.
Nature nourishes us with food, water and fresh air, as well as provides livelihoods for many millions. Nature is also our key ally against climate change.
WWF-Malaysia extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who took action for people and planet this Earth Hour – from striving to live more sustainably and sharing the Earth Hour conservation message to Pledging for Nature and joining the Earth Hour Virtual Run for Nature 2022 – 50th Anniversary Edition.
Thank you very much for taking action Together for Nature to help Shape Our Future this Earth Hour. Click the button below to download the Earth Hour 2022 Thank You Report.
PLEDGE FOR NATUREWe turned 50 on 13 January 2022, and we have planned many exciting activities throughout the year. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating this milestone by showing your support of nature conservation as we countdown to Earth Hour at 8:30pm on 26 March 2022 by pledging to:
1. Switch off lights during Earth Hour
2. Plant a tree/ add a potted plant at your home, school or office during 2022
As trees grow, they help mitigate climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the air, storing carbon in the trees and soil, and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere. Thank you for pledging for nature; and helping to Shape Our Future where people and nature thrive together. Together Possible!
Note to Building Owners: If you are switching your building's lights off in support of Earth Hour, please email your company details as well as photos before and during lights off to firstname.lastname@example.org to be included in our 'Earth Hour 2022 Thank You Report' which will be published on 22 May International Day for Biological Diversity. Thank you very much.
- If you are having a pledge drive at your school or university campus, please type your specific CODE in the ‘Company/Educational Institution’ form field so we can attribute the pledges. Thank You.
SHAPE OUR FUTURE THIS EARTH HOUR
Nature nourishes us with food, water and fresh air, as well as provides livelihoods for many millions. Nature is also our key ally against climate change. The climate and nature loss crises threaten all this. Humanity’s unsustainable demands on the natural world are leading to climate breakdown, habitat loss, and wildlife in decline. And we are increasingly suffering the consequences: for example, the COVID-19 pandemic and the catastrophic events of recent months – floods, wildfires, extreme weather events. What we do to the planet – we do to ourselves.
2022 is a critical year for the planet. This year, world leaders will make key political decisions on climate action, sustainable development and nature. These decisions will affect the health of our planet and our own future for decades to come.
You can help by acting for people and planet this Earth Hour – from striving to live more sustainably to pledging, running and donating to show your support of nature conservation. Everyone has the power to shape our future! Thank you for your meaningful support.
