Bornean Banteng Action Plan for Sabah
Mid-term Review of Bornean Banteng Action Plan

The Bornean Banteng Action Plan (BBAP) was developed as a strategic framework to guide the conservation of the critically endangered Bornean Banteng (Bos javanicus lowi) in Sabah. The plan outlines key objectives across enforcement, habitat management, population monitoring, captive breeding, and stakeholder engagement to support the species' long-term survival.
As the plan reaches its midpoint, this Mid-Term Review provides an opportunity to assess implementation progress, identify gaps and challenges, and recalibrate strategies where needed. The review aims to:
-
Evaluate whether the plan is on track to achieve its stated objectives;
-
Gather input from implementing agencies and stakeholders;
-
Identify barriers, opportunities, and lessons learned;
-
Recommend adjustments to strengthen the remaining implementation period.
This document summarizes the findings of the mid-term review process, including stakeholder inputs, thematic assessments, and proposed actions to enhance the effectiveness of BBAP moving forward.
