Consultancy Call:
Financial Strategy for Reconnecting Borneo
WWF is seeking an experienced consultant or consulting firm to design an innovative financial strategy for the Reconnect Borneo initiative. This initiative aims to restore ecological connectivity across Borneo, safeguarding biodiversity, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods, by creating innovative nature financing mechanisms capable of unlocking the millions - and ultimately billions - needed to secure a thriving Borneo.
• Develop a comprehensive financial strategy for large-scale conservation and restoration.
• Identify funding gaps and propose innovative mechanisms (e.g., blended finance, carbon and biodiversity credits, green bonds).
• Assess landscape-specific contexts and regulatory frameworks in Malaysia and Indonesia
• Prioritize and shortlist up to 5 nature financing mechanisms.
• Develop a roadmap tailored to the ReConnect Borneo Initiative.

Strong track record in designing innovative financial mechanisms and assess regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.

Experience in large-scale conservation or climate finance projects, preferably in tropical forest landscapes or similar complex ecosystems.

Ability to conduct in-depth research and stakeholder consultations, translating findings into actionable strategies and funding proposals.

Knowledge of policy and governance systems in Southeast Asia, particularly Malaysia and Indonesia, and their implications for financing mechanisms.

Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

Track record of delivering high-quality outputs under tight timelines, including strategic documents, prioritization frameworks, and implementation roadmaps.
