Users on this digital platform can interact directly with WWF-Malaysia’s communications team to find out more about conservation programmes for the Malayan tiger, Bornean elephant and orang-utan, among others.
Director of Marketing and Communications Rozanna Basri said her team will continue producing interesting and engaging content for WWF-Malaysia followers on this platform.
“This platform helps connect us with our supporters in an authentic way. They are an important part of the WWF-Malaysia family, and we are excited to have meaningful conversations with them about the environment,” she explained.
Director of Partnerships Helina Yow said users are able to donate directly to causes of their choice. Impact reports will be made available to them, in line with WWF-Malaysia’s pledge to be transparent to donors and supporters.
“Social media plays an important role in community-building and mobilising social action. It is used to galvanise people into participating in community cleanups or reduce plastic waste to save the environment,” she added.
“As face-to-face contact is not practical at the moment, this platform enables users to meet like-minded individuals and contribute to conservation work from the comfort of their homes.
“At the same time, users will be updated on how their donations were used. This is how we remain accountable to our supporters,” Yow elaborated.
WWF-Malaysia is collaborating with award-winning social enterprise Incitement to create this platform that would bridge the gap between sustainability and technology.
“I remember watching advertisements from WWF as an eight-year-old boy on Dutch television, raising donations to save the Borneo rainforests,” Incitement CEO, Daniel de Gruijter said.
“The Incitement team is both grateful and honored that we get to play our part in helping WWF achieve its mission,” he added.
