WWF-Malaysia sincerely thanks the lecturers and Foundation students of the Centre of Liberal Arts and Languages (COLAL), INTI International University Nilai, for collecting more than 8,000 pledges in support of making tiger conservation a national priority. Many congratulations to the students of COLAL 1212 1E Class, who worked very hard to garner 1,600 pledges under the guidance of their lecturer Phang Siew Sia.

Under the leadership of Associate Professor Phawani Vijayaratnam, Director of COLAL and Project Manager Ng Wen Lee, lecturers Elizabeth Anne Pereira, Mariann Edwina A/P Mariadass Lourdes, Mohamad Faiz Bin Mohamad Ali and Phang Siew Sia guided their students to become tiger conservation champions.

During the March Language Enrichment Day, themed ‘The Roar of Champions’, the students were guided by their lecturers to let their multi-faceted talents shine through various competitions focused on the topic of environmental conservation. These included song writing and singing, essay writing, public speaking, video production as well as poster and T-shirt design. Please download the top five essays on the right.

“During Paw Pals 2.0 Pledge to Save Tigers Campaign, students presented the causes and effects of tiger extinction to the public. While raising the public awareness about tiger extinction and promoting tiger conservation during this campaign, students’ communication and teamwork skills improved.  We are glad that students have also developed positive attitudes and values about the environment by supporting tiger conservation," said Project Manager and lecturer Ng Wen Lee.

Student leaders thanked their lecturers and WWF-Malaysia for giving them the opportunity to build their communications and English language skills in support of a good cause. Although they had to work very hard, sometimes late into the night, they had fun completing the ‘Save Our Tigers’ Employer Project. A student leader urged his peers to always remember this experience because yesterday’s learnings can fuel your courage to take on tomorrow’s responsibilities.

WWF-Malaysia also extends heartfelt thanks to COLAL for running the ‘Zero Waste Video Competition’ Employer Project. Project Manager Elizabeth Anne Pereira as well as lecturers Wan Noor Farah Wan Shamsuddin, Ng Wen Lee and Mohamad Faiz Mohamad Ali guided their students to create videos aimed at sharing the importance of reducing waste while making more sustainable lifestyle choices.
