The Sustainable School – Environmental Award: Curriculum Component project is a collaboration between the Curriculum Development Division (CDD), Ministry of Education Malaysia, WWF-Malaysia and local universities to bring about positive behavioural changes in students through 3 learning approaches, in classroom, outside classroom (within school compound) and field trips since 2008.

In its’ commitment to uphold the importance of nature conservation and to drive sustainability in environmental education, SC Johnson, one of the world's leading manufacturers of household cleaning products and products for home storage, air care and pest control has partnered WWF-Malaysia in supporting the Education & You project as a main sponsor for the Showcase and the printing and design of the Environmental Education Kits and other resource materials for the teachers and students.

The learning approaches which emphasise in advocating the connection between academic or conceptual understanding with practical actions and experiences that relates to our life. Significant resource materials such as Environmental Education Kits (to be used by Bahasa Malaysia, English, Science and Geography subject teachers for form one to three), field trip modules, and guidebooks on infusion were developed in the span of five years of the project. In assisting the implementation of these approaches in all 4 pilot schools, yearly action plan are established to provide a framework on how and where the infusion of environmental education in their schools could take shape.

A showcase titled Environmental Education in Malaysia’s Educational Curriculum Showcase was held and one of the objectives of this Showcase is to capture and present on the alignment of the model to the Education Blueprint (2013-2025). Therefore, from the 11 shifts in the Education Blueprint (2013-2025) to transform the system, 3 shifts were identified and will be focused in the Showcase. They are Develop Values-Driven Malaysians (Shift 3), Leverage ICT to Scale Up Quality Learning Across Malaysia (Shift 7) and Partner with Parents, Community and Private Sector at Scale (Shift 9). The Showcase would also align to the International Standard for Environmental Education which emphasises on creativity and higher order thinking skills as well as Education for Sustainable Development.
