WWF-Malaysia’s Tigers Alive! project was created following the end of our human-tiger conflict work in FELDA Jerangau Barat, Terengganu in 2003. With support from partners and stakeholders, this project aims to develop long-term measures in order to improve the protection and management of key tiger populations and their habitats.

The Tigers Alive! project focuses on five inter-related components within the Belum-Temengor-Gunung Basor landscape. The components include reducing human-tiger conflict and raising awareness through educational programmes in Jeli, Kelantan, addressing tiger landscape connectivity, monitoring of tigers and their prey, as well as developing wildlife-friendly forestry guidelines. Each component forms an important part of a broader approach to addressing tiger conservation in Malaysia.

Linking Landscapes

The development of human settlements, industries, roads and railways have reduced the tigers and other large mammals such as elephants and rhinoceros’ habitat into much smaller pockets of forests. This project will look into identifying the connectivity between the major forest landscapes, mainly the protected areas, forest reserves and stateland forests of Peninsular Malaysia. Read more...

Human-Wildlife Conflict Mitigation
