This module aims to carry out field assessments in order to gain scientific information on tiger ecology and other wildlife, focusing on the Belum-Temengor-Gunung Basor landscape. This information would then facilitate management recommendations within the landscape, so that a balance can be maintained between the needs of both humans and tigers.

In the past, pug mark census was the only monitoring method frequently used to estimate tiger populations. This method estimates the number of  tigers in a given area based on the ability to identify individuals by their tracks (i.e. ‘pug marks’). However, researchers have recently adopted a more reliable technique; camera-trapping, where they are able to gain information on tiger ecology such as abundance, distribution and predator-prey relationships.
