Although Ulu Muda has a huge potential in nature tourism, it is a big challenge to realise this potential. It is located in a remote part of the country with limited supporting facilities for tourism.
There is lack of qualified nature guides and interpretive materials that are necessary to attract and interest nature tourists. Access to the sites of interest within Ulu Muda is not easy and so only a niche group of tourists visit Ulu Muda for now.
WWF-Malaysia assists the Kedah State Government, through the Kedah State Tourism Action Council, in finding ways to overcome some of these challenges.
