Although the Royal Belum was declared a state park, gazettement is still on-going. Meanwhile, the park remains a security area with access controlled by the armed forces. However, the Perak State Parks Corporation as the management authority there, can process visitor applications to Royal Belum.
Currently in the planning stage, the park has only basic infrastructure available at a few locations, such as the basecamp at Sg. Kejar. The park gateway is at Banding Island on Tasik Temengor and visitor facilities are being developed on the island.
Unregulated and poorly-planned development may lead to serious damage to the area’s integrity while good management will ensure that opportunities are maximised and conflicts or threats to the survival of the forest, plants and animals are reduced.
