Team Members

Thiagarajan Nadeson

Senior Manager Formal Education
Thiaga has started his work for WWF-Malaysia in 2001 dealing primarily with the formal education system community. He has worked with numerous stakeholders and the list is non-exhaustive and not only limited to those in the education field.

He’s the Chairman for the National Eco-Schools programme Committee and the National Operator for Eco-Schools programme in Malaysia. He has been appointed judge for consecutive years for Bandar Lestari Programme (Sustainable City) and National Inter-University Debate on Environment.

During his 11 years tenure with WWF-Malaysia he has written articles, modules (for teacher education institutes), conceptual proposals, assessment reports and so on.

Some of the tangible outputs (developed jointly) at national and state level are the National Action Plan for CEPA (Communication, Education and Public Awareness), Mainstreaming of Biodiversity for Seascapes amongst others. He is also a trainer on project management that uses Log-frame analysis and Programme and project Management Standard (for NGOs).

A. Lasal

Senior Programme Officer
Lasal has been working in WWF-Malaysia since 1977. His love towards nature has motivated him to take up a degree in Zoology. If you have come accross the man in a van from WWF-Malaysia giving environmental awareness talks in your schools back in the 80's throughout the 90's, chances are you have met Lasal. During his years with the Mobile Education Unit, he has visited more than 3800 primary and secondary schools and have exposed over a million students to WWF-Malaysia's education programmes.

After the restructuring process of Environmental Education Programme back in 2004, Lasal have since worked in projects such as “Environment and YOU" and Eco-Schools. Currently, he is leading a 3 year project funded by Coca Cola Company called "Protect Our Water, Protect Our Lives".

Lasal is married and blessed with two boys. The whole family does their part as environment citizens, through recycling activities, rainwater harvesting, and being directly involved in environmental campaigns with organised by other NGOs. Occasionally, during long school holidays the whole family gets involved in helping under privileged children in orphanages. 

Nor Shidawati binti Abdul Rasid

Formal Education Manager
Shida is currently  the Team Leader for Eco-Institutes programme.  Before the Eco-Institutes programme, she was leading a project called Developing An Environmental Education (EE) policy, which is a five year advocacy project on EE policy.  Apart from that, she also coordinates all the communication initiatives for EE programme.

She has a degree in Education, majoring in TESL from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and was a former educator for 5 and half years before she joined WWF-Malaysia.

In her eight years with WWF-Malaysia, she has been directly involved with Sekolah Lestari Anugerah Alam Sekitar program as one of the national judge, appointed as National Coordinator for Denso Youth for Earth Action programme and served two terms as Advisory Board member for Japan Environmental Education Forum Young Environmental Leadership Programme from 2010 to 2012.

During her free time, she juggles between running, reading, hiking and travelling. She's an avid runner who's aiming to run the marathon before her 40th birthday.

Johleen Koh

Senior Environmental Education Officer
Johleen is the Team Leader for Environment and You (E & You) project or formally known formally known by stakeholders as Sekolah Lestari - Anugerah Alam Sekitar: Komponen Kurikulum which started in 2007.

She graduated from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in BSc in Science (Hons) and continued with her postgraduate studies in MSc in Marine Science in the same university.

Her love for the marine world sparked the passion  to conserve the environment be it terrestrial or marine, due to their co-dependence.

Only one and a half years into the project, she saw to the refinement of the Environmental Education Kit. In addition, she has also lead the initiative towards improving the Special Event Module for the students. All these initiatives is hoped to bring in a more improved behavioural changes among the students.

She finds serenity and peace in diving into the other realm of Earth and music which speaks the language of peace and humanity that breaches borders of culture and race.

Hairunnisa Zahirah binti Abdul Raqib Lim

Programme Officer
Nisa is the Programme Officer for Environment and You (E & You) project or formally known formally known by stakeholders as Sekolah Lestari - Anugerah Alam Sekitar: Komponen Kurikulum which started in 2007.

She graduated with a degree in Chemistry from University Malaysia Terengganu back in 2008. Although she loves chemistry, it was her love for animals and nature that made her decide to pursue her studies in the field of environment. After completing her degree she continued with her postgraduate studies and graduated from University Putra Malaysia with a Master in Environment in 2010.

In the span of two years and half, she has been working together with the Senior Environmental Education Officer, organising and conducting capacity building workshops for teachers  and special events for students.

During weekends or in her spare time, she usually spend time with her family and spoil her cats (she has 6 cats at home). Another one of her favorites is food. Though a picky eater, she loves trying out new flavors and new recipes.
