Environment & You

A developed and sustainable Malaysia must make provisions to create a culture of Environmental Citizenship, especially among our young. Investing in educating Malaysia’s youth towards this ideal - where environmentally educated people translate their knowledge of nature and conservation into responsible, environmentally-conscious actions - is both crucial and far-sighted
An environmentally-literate public will be informed about, educated in and responsible towards the environment. They recognise the value and are aware of how their actions may influence it, and this in turn will lead to a more sustainable future.

Environment and You (E&U) is a pilot project to:
  • Raise environmental values and ethics in school children
  • Develop skills amongst them on the importance of conservation within the context of the overall quality of life
  • To help children think and act in environmentally-friendly ways

WWF-Malaysia believes that educating children on environmental and conservation issues is vital as children are tomorrow’s leaders and resource users. In some cases, children can also influence parents and other community leaders. However, environmental knowledge alone is not enough for our children to adopt environmentally-friendly lifestyles. They need to be equipped with the relevant skills (to identify and anticipate environmental issues), positive attitudes, and be action-oriented.
