In the Malaysian context, WWF-M is working towards influencing the formal education system by the ratification and introduction of an EE Policy and creation of a working EE model for environmental citizenship behavior. Working with public who influence the school community also regarded vital therefore a mobile education programme has been established. An International certification programme is also being promoted to recognized and appreciated the many wonderful work done in the formal education institutions.

EE has been critically viewed to address the ever increasing environmental issues. Some even question the effectiveness of it with movement to replace it with EfSD.
EfSD which was sanctioned by UN with mandate given to UNESCO to spread its significant impacts and implement at various level is now in progress. However, the real issues is how public, private sectors and government bodies can collaborate and harness their enthusiasm in stimulate actions at local level with global impact is the key.
