Currents: WWF-Malaysia Marine Programme Newsletter July - Sept 2013
In this issue of 'Currents', we zoom in to the local communities with whom we have been working closely, namely the Banggi Youth Club, Berungus villagers, Maliangin Island Community Association, Women Association of Omadal Island and Kudat Turtle Conservation Society – all of whom who are embracing the roles and responsibilities as custodians of their marine heritage.
We marked the end of another action-packed turtle nesting season with ongoing research on these ancient mariners through the Hatchling Dispersal Studies in Melaka and Terengganu and we honoured the victors of the World Sea Turtle Day Run by naming our satellite-tracked turtles after them.
In conjunction with this year’s Malaysia Day celebrations, we had a special screening of the documentary 'Fish Listeners of Setiu Lagoons' at the Bangkung Row Street Festival in Bangsar.
We thank you for your continuous support toward our marine conservation efforts. Together we can make a difference to improve the health of the marine environment in Malaysia.
